Seraphine Passibone is a beautiful young woman, the child of a quadroon mother and wealthy French father in New Orleans placage society. For two decades she has been haunted by Francois Devol‘s unspeakable evil which ripped her family apart when she was just an infant. Quickly smuggled away to France for safety, as an adult she returns to New Orleans where she is befriended by notorious voodooienne Marie Laveau. After the Civil War ends, Marie proposes a perilous mission to Seraphine, one where she can finally exact her revenge on Devol, and recover a fortune in Lost Confederate gold.
